Raksha Bandhan is not just a festival, it’s a celebration of the bond between brothers and sisters. Traditionally, sweets are an inseparable part of the occasion. But store-bought sweets often contain excess sugar, artificial ingredients, and preservatives.

For those who are diabetic or health-conscious, homemade sugar-free sweets offer a healthier yet equally delicious alternative.


5 Easy Sugar-Free Sweet Recipes

1. Sugar-Free Kaju Katli

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup cashew powder/paste

  • ½ cup date paste

  • 1 tsp ghee

  • ¼ tsp cardamom powder

Method:

  1. Prepare cashew powder/paste.

  2. Lightly roast date paste in ghee.

  3. Add cashew powder & cardamom, mix well.

  4. When mixture leaves the pan, roll it on a greased plate.

  5. Cool & cut into diamond shapes.


2. Bottle Gourd (Lauki) Sugar-Free Barfi

Ingredients: Grated bottle gourd, date paste, milk, coconut powder, ghee, cardamom.

Method:

  1. Prepare date paste.

  2. Roast grated bottle gourd in ghee until water evaporates.

  3. Add milk & cook well.

  4. Mix in date paste, coconut powder, and cardamom.

  5. Set & cut into squares.


3. Banana-Dates Cake

Ingredients: Ripe bananas, date paste, ragi flour, butter, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon.

Method:

  1. Blend dates & milk to a paste; mash bananas.

  2. Combine with butter.

  3. Sift dry ingredients, mix into the batter.

  4. Bake at 180°C for 30-35 mins or cook in a pressure cooker for 35-40 mins.


4. Seeds & Dry Fruits Ladoo

Ingredients: Cashew, almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, date paste, ghee, cardamom.

Method:

  1. Dry roast nuts & seeds, grind coarsely.

  2. Roast date paste in ghee.

  3. Add nuts, seeds, and cardamom, mix well.

  4. Shape into small ladoos.


5. Dates-Coconut Barfi

Ingredients: Dry coconut, date paste, ghee, cardamom, dry fruits.

Method:

  1. Roast coconut in ghee until aromatic.

  2. Add date paste & cook for 5-7 mins.

  3. Add cardamom & dry fruits.

  4. Set in a plate, cool, and cut into pieces.
